At CNC we run a number of courses during the year covering a variety of subjects. Below are details of the some of the courses we run. For the latest information on current courses please check the Calendar, or the list of Upcoming Events on the right.
Test of FAITH: Does science threaten belief in God?
Thursdays 23rd March, 30th March and 6th April – 7.30-9.30 pm.
A three week course looking at key issues around science and faith:
- Beyond reason? The myth of conflict
- The Big Bang, evolution and Genesis (and suffering)
- Is there anybody there? Ethics, genetics, what does it mean to be human?
Led by Ashley and Jo, this course is for anyone, irrespective of belief or lack thereof. We kick off with a look at whether science and faith are in conflict and if so how. The following week considers the beginning of the universe (or universes) and unpacks the science and the faith perspectives. The final week considers how we develop ethical frameworks and how they might impact issues like genetics, cloning, ‘enhancement’ and ’emergence’. The evenings are a mixture of discussion starters, expert video input and time to talk together in small groups. Each week we will be having food delivered by a local takeaway for £5 a head (Curry: Fish & Chips; Chinese) and you can bring a bottle of your favourite tipple, so we will sup and munch whilst we chat. If you are interested in coming to the course then please let Jo know, so she can order enough food.
New ID is a six week Christian course for those struggling with anorexia, bulimia or compulsive eating, bringing the message that complete freedom is possible. Classes are held in a safe and private environment where you can find support. We run this course about once every two years. If you are interested in taking part in our next course then please contact and we can let you know when we plan to hold it.
