What is a Network Church?
CNC is not a traditional parish church with a geographic patch to look after. Our visibility isn’t with a building but through what we do in our networks. Increasingly people’s lives are best described by the networks to which they relate, rather than simply by the place where they live. Many connect most closely with people where they work or with whom they are at leisure, rather than with the people who happen to live nearby.
Network church encourages a ‘go and inhabit’ approach: gospel and church becoming a reality among the variety of ways people are living. They are developed for mission to particular social and cultural groups.
CNC has a range of networks. Some are about coming together for fun, some are based around social action, others are mutual support groups, teaching groups, prayer groups or places of friendship where we work out what it means to live as followers of Jesus.
Connect Networks are the place where we belong and share life and Jesus together. Activity Networks are sociable, dynamic and fun – coming together for a common activity often with those who are not part of CNC. Course Networks are about going deeper – where we can question and search, often run for a fixed length, sometimes for Christians, sometimes for those outside the church. Action Networks are about getting out of church, helping, challenging and being hands on. Check our website for our current networks.
Any CNC member can set up a new network. Who is God telling you to network with?
Trustees – An exciting opportunity to join a small team at CNC. We urgently need to recruit two new trustees to serve until the AGMs in 2022 and 2023 respectively. Trustees hold legal and financial responsibilities, and set the long-term strategy of the church. If you believe you might be called to serve as a trustee then please talk to one of the existing team. You should have been in CNC for at least 12 months, be a regular attendee of Sunday services, a member of a Connect Network, serving in the church community in other areas and giving financially to CNC where at all possible.
Mission Action Network – As a church we want to be listening to God to discern what is our part in His mission for Cheltenham. The Trustees have started an Action Network for Mission. This is open to all in CNC who would like to take part in helping discern what God is saying to us. It will be run by a core team of three or four, but if you can pray and have a heart open to what God is doing in CNC during this exciting period then this is the network for you.
One of the first things that the Mission network will organise is “30 Days of Prayer & Fasting” during the month of November. God has a mission in Cheltenham and our role as a church is to discern and join in with what He is already doing. We will use November to pray and listen to what God is saying to CNC. Speak to a trustee or email email@example.com for more info.
