COVID-19, OUR CHURCH AND CARING FOR CHELTENHAM

You are here: Home / CNC News / COVID-19, OUR CHURCH AND CARING FOR CHELTENHAM

OUR SUNDAY GATHERINGS

Spending time together is part of our way of life in God which brings strength to ourselves and each other. If the situation develops then our Sunday Church together will evolve to fit. In this time of anxiety, challenge and loneliness, The Church has a gift of hope, community and peace. This is a critical moment to carry it even more boldly, and not a time to abandon the gift and task which God has given us: to offer his hope, community and peace to everyone around us. We may be required to socially distance or self-isolate, but we will never shrink back.

This Sunday we will gather as usual at 10.00am at Bournside for our Sunday gathering. We will make time to discuss and form a plan together as a church family for how we move forward together in this time, caring best for one another and being a brave voice of peace in our neighbourhood.

OUR LIFE TOGETHER DURING THE WEEK

We are here for Cheltenham, because of Jesus. In this time we have a brave role to play in serving our neighbourhood. Please join with me in praying and planning. We may move into ‘social distancing’ and ‘self-isolating’ but it is not in our Christian nature to panic or be afraid.

We will be brave, creative and wise.

Here are some questions for us to consider, which we will discuss on Sunday together:
How can we pray for those who are ill?
How can we support anyone feeling lonely?
How can we encourage anyone feeling afraid?
How can we support anyone running out of food, essentials?
How can we do life together with God even if we can’t gather in a larger group?

FINALLY

Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

The things he told us were about his love, his company with us and his plan for us to join in his work. Remember these things, and we will be fine.

Be in touch with any questions, and see you on Sunday.

Love and peace,

Sarah

P.S. If you are ill this Sunday

If you are ill with the symptoms of COVID-19; already self-isolating because of contact with someone who has tested positive; or have underlying breathing health issues then do not come, but do let myself or one of the pastoral team know or email sarah@cnc.church so that we can keep you involved in the plan and make sure we can support you where possible.

Cheltenham Network Church

CNC is a new kind of Church of England church. We work alongside the parish churches but don’t have our own parish. Instead we focus on the natural connections people have through the variety of ‘networks’ in their normal lives.

We are relaxed and informal and unashamedly family friendly with a membership made up from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and stages. Our desire is to be transformed by God and to transform the world around us.

For over 20 years CNC has worked in partnership with the churches in Charlton Kings under the name of Glenfall Fellowship. Since October 2015, with the generous support of the Cheltenham Deanery and the South Cheltenham Team Ministry, we are in a new season with a new name and a new venue.
